La Bastiglia (Std. Room) - Spello

Category 3

Via dei Molini 17, Spello, Italy 06038

Dining with a view !

With heavenly views of Umbria (photo montage)

This charming property has the unique feature of falling into both our "category 3" and "category 4" for accommodations. Largely because of their Michelin rated restaurant, the "standard" rooms offer exceptional value when compared to comparable locations in Spello. Located at the walled midieval town of Spello, La Bastiglia hilltop inn was once a working grain mill which happened to have spectacular views of Umbria. With a recently completed new section overlooking the nearby green hills and the Sibillini mountains in the distance, the standard rooms are simply decorated yet very comfortable. (The suites are a bit more upscale, and have hot tubs on their terrace.) The restaurant specializes in unique variations on traditional Umbrian dishes that feature truffles and mushrooms. (This is not your average cafe! So look for things like roasted pigeon or a sorbetto of wild berries in the summer.)

Features:
A one-star Michelin restaurant with trendy menu; swimming pool (heated in cold months); 31 units + 2 jr suites; Air conditioned; Select superior double rooms have adjoining balcony and mini-fridge; great view from breakfast area, a computer for public use; (no internet connections are available for guest computers).

A favorite local event is the Cherry Festival in Capodacqua.
